Nadi Thumps Savusavu

Laced with four national reps, Nadi thrashed Savusavu 5-0 yesterday.

Team manager Mohammed Faroon said the side came with an aim for a successful outing.

“The girls have trained well and are in their best form,” Faroon said.

The side got to a slow start in the first half with a goal from a penalty kick to national rep Yasreen Begum.

But Nadi players in the second half produced fireworks with two goals to Amelia Aria and Jeniffer Bennette within five minutes. “After a pep talk, the girls were fired up which saw the side slide in four goals during second half.

“Savusavu played a good game but were unsuccessful to secure a goal and gave us a hard time to score in the first half.”

The side will rely on its national reps to guide the side to victory.

The chase for the title is strong from champions Labasa thumping Nadroga 4-0 to qualify. Labasa will meet Nadi today in the first semi-final.

Meanwhile in the other matches, Nadroga defeated Tavua 2-0 while Navua punished Suva 6-nil.

When this edition went to press, games between Lautoka and Suva was being played while Rewa-Savusavu and Ba-Lami matches were yet to kick off.
