The Suva Golden Oldies Rugby Club ended their “Balls and Beards” awareness campaign at Cathedral Secondary School ground yesterday.

Club president Jope Tuivanuavou said the campaign was to help create awareness of prostate cancer in men.

“Prostate cancer is the killer disease in men and we are doing this campaign to keep people healthy and active,” he said.

“The whole objective was to raise funds to assist in the creating of awareness on prostate cancer in men over the age of 35.”

He also said more awareness programmes were needed to be done so people could understand and know what prostate cancer was all about.

“There is a lot of work that needs to done and we cannot do it alone.”

Four teams

The four teams which took part yesterday included Fiji, Pasifika, Combine Australia and New Zealand team and Rest of the World competed against one another.

The Ministry of Health was also present at the ground yesterday conducting tests for the deadly disease.
