School is now over and the festive season has kicked in.
During the Bulileka Sanatan Primary School prizegiving last week the students were advised on what to do during holidays.

Labasa Police Station Officer Mohammed Kasim used the opportunity as chief guest to caution the students.

“Another school year has ended and as a student you have to be aware of your responsibility,” Mr Kasim told the students.

“Look after yourself and your younger brothers and sisters, listen to your parents and do not involve yourself in any unlawful activities.

“I must remind you as we near the holidays, please do take good care of our children.

“I would remind us all that our responsibility is to fight crime and for that we need your assistance and commitment because we Police officers cannot do it alone.”

Despite the drop in crime reports in Labasa, Mr Kasim said we need to remain on high alert because anyone could be a victim of a crime.

The school’s function co-ordinator, Pranesh Sharma, said the function was the perfect chance to have children addressed by a Police officer.
