Thirty two-year old Zameer Akhdar was still in shock after seeing a woman land on the front window of his car.

She was in a minibus that crashed near Viseisei, Vuda, in Lautoka yesterday.

The minibus went out of control while heading towards a bridge and tumbled twice.

A woman sitting on the front seat was thrown from her seat onto an oncoming car.

Mr Akhdar, who was driving the car, said: “I saw the van going off the road. Then next thing I knew was this lady that landed on my front window. I stopped and I was shocked. First thing that came to my mind was my family so I tried to take them all out of the vehicle.

“My family was okay except for my granddad who was sitting at the front. He had injured himself from the pieces of glass so we had to take all of them to the hospital,” he said.

Mr Akhdar was travelling from Ba to Port Denarau, in Nadi with his family.

“I was on my way to Port Denarau to return to work at Plantation Resort with my family when we came across this horrible accident. I am not able to go back today since my family are at the Lautoka Hospital.

“This is something that I know that will never slip my mind. Just thinking back to what had happened, it was just horrible. I came to a point where I was just still but the people were very helpful,” he said.

Mr Akhdar said there were 11 passengers inside the van who were later rushed to the Lautoka Hospital.

Police could not release details because they were still investigating.
