End Waste Stench: Radrodro

A master plan is currently in place to eliminate the stench from the Kinoya sewerage treatment Plant in Suva.

This was confirmed by Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Pio Tikoduadua yesterday during the debate.

The question was raised by Opposition member Salote Radrodro on what is the plan that is in place to eliminate the stench from Kinoya sewerage treatment plant.

Mr Tikoduadua said the government has contributed in the 2015 budget to reduce it.

“We know the concentration in the past has always been on getting water to people to drink but we recognised this area waste water management has been neglected and we are pouring a significant amount of resources to be able to help in waste water management.

“We have stakeholders that are helping us particularly the Asian Development Bank (ADB) who have come to our aid in the last few months to help with the plan on how we are to handle this particular waste water strain particularly in Kinoya.

Mr Tikoduadua assured Mrs Radrodro that Government plans were definite.
