The Sitiveni Racule captined- Nailaga FC has suffered a major setback, going into the 2014 Kriz Signs National Club Championship Western Playoff at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka this weekend.

The club’s three rising stars; Misiwane Narube (goalkeeper), Saula Waqa (striker) and Jonetani Buksh (striker) are currently with the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 team.

Nailaga FC coach Azam Ali said the trio won’t be released by Fiji FA to play for them.

“Well we will definitely miss their services as they were part of this great team,” Ali said.

“We have good and quality players from secondary schools in Ba that are ready make their impression in the NCC.”

He said they also expect another rising star Luke Savu to bolster their chances.

“The competition is of course will be tough as clubs will be fielding their district reps. The clubs make their debut in the NCC since its establishment in 1997. The formation of the club was the brainchild of former Ba and national soccer striker Taito Bula.

“This is a biggest achievement for the club to qualify for the NCC after 17 years of our existence,” said Ali.

Since the inaugural tournament in 1986, only four Ba club have won the trophy- FSC FC in 1988, 1992, 1997, and 4R Electrical FC in 2010 and 2012.

Defending champions is Navua’s League FC who beat 4R Electrical 3-0 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last year. Nadi’s Tanoa FC was the first side to win the inaugural tournament in 1986.
