Eight trucks worth $560,000 were given by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to the Ministry of Rural and Maritime and National Disaster Management yesterday.

Assistant Minister Joeli Cawaki said this would help to better service delivery at maritime islands.

“Currently, the ministry is hiring vehicles or using old government vehicles to maintain maritime road networks,” Mr Cawaki said.

“But these new tipper trucks are equipped for routine road maintenance works and will boost outer islands road transportation and mobility.”

The authority works closely with the ministry to manage the outer islands road network.
