16th A-G’s Conference Today

Lawyers from around the country will today converge at the  InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa for the 16th Attorney-General’s conference.

This year’s conference will see three judges and a former Fiji Law Society president amongst other impressive speakers.

The two- day conference will have six sessions in which speakers will present their views on issues important to Fiji such as social media, defamation and law.

The first session today will be legal implications of climate change, followed by sessions on social media, defamation and law.

The final session of the day will be on international conventions and declarations- challenges and implications.

Day two of the conference will see sessions on gender identity and the law followed by discussions on human trafficking.

The final session, before the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum closes the annual conference, will be on implications of free trade on socio-economic rights.

Day Two: Gender Identity and Law
– Ambassador Nazhat Shameem: whose paper will be presented by her deputy Ms Khatri
– Kris Prasad: President of Drodrolagi Movement
– Ferdinand Strobel: Health and Development Specialist
– Shivana Singh: Tutor at the Australia Pacific Technical College
Social Media, Defamation and the Law
