The BLK Fiji Women’s Under-19 will play New Caledonia in the Women’s Division B first semifinal of the FIBA USP U19 Oceania Championships at the Vodafone Arena in Suva today.

The hosts ended their pool matches with a 30-91 defeat by New Zealand yesterday. In the Division B second semifinal, Solomons meets Papua New Guinea at 6pm.

For the main Division A favourites, Australia will play Tahiti in the first semifinal at 2pm while New Zealand will be against Guam at 6pm today.

New Zealand women’s captain, Krystal Leger Walker said there were some areas that they would want to improve on like making all shots count into the basket.

“Australia would be our toughest opponent,” Walker said.

American Samoa plays Samoa women’s in the 9th/10th playoff at 12pm today.

Meanwhile New Zealand men’s captain Izayah Le’afa is confident of a good outing in the playoff after their 106-20 victory over American Samoa in their final pool match yesterday.

“We’re going to go in being aggressive; we just keep getting better.

“There are some other areas we had to work on and our coaches are working on it,” Le’afa said.
