Tavua Gold and Water Carnival is ready to start.

The carnival, which starts tomorrow, is expected to get bigger.

Committee chairman Tulsi Ram said the public should expect a different atmosphere this year.

“This is the third year we are celebrating the Gold and Water Carnival. Instead of four days we have extended it to eight days,” Mr Ram said.

“The reason for this is so that we could give more time for the public to enjoy the carnival especially since it is during the festive season.”

Mr Ram urged the public to make use of the carnival.

“There will be cheap food up for sale and other materials that people could use for Christmas that will be sold at a very cheap price so people should make use of this,” he said.

Hosting the event for a charitable reason Mr Ram said the carnival has been successful so far.

“For the past two years we have managed to raise money and conduct projects that the people of Tavua have benefitted from,” he said.

“Last year we were able to raise more than $60,000 where we have completed few of our projects and are still to work on some more projects.”

Meanwhile, five contestants will compete for the crown.

The winner will win a return ticket to Auckland, New Zealand.
