Namaka FC Sets Sights For NCC Title

Nadi champions Namaka FC became the first team to qualify for the 2014 Kriz Signs National Club Championship knock out stages to be played later this month.

This was after the Pranesh Amarsee side defeated a high spirited 4R Electrical side 2-0 with Krishna Sami and Samuela Drudru both scoring at 10 minutes interval in the second spell.

Sami knocked in the goal in the 44th minute while Drudru had his laugh in the 54th minute.

Coach Amarsee said they were confident with their journey from the first match.

“It has been a while Nadi teams have yet to break the ice and this year we are serious then ever,” said Amarsee.

“We have settled for the wins needed and we still have to set our focus with few changes to be done but the team will be ready come the final round.”

Last year’s runner-up 4R Electrical laced with Ba reps failed to repeat their form in 2010 and 2012 where they were a formidable side.

The side bundled out of the championship after conceding another shocking goal to Lautoka’s Tu Villa Villa FC 1-0 and thanks to Cryus Singh for the classy goal.

Other teams that have qualified are Nadi’s Gandhi Lionz and Lambert Sarju’s Press FC.

The Lionz with the services of Ame Votonui, Eliki Ravosai, and Jolame Vukivuki managed to book their spot in the final round after edging debutant Nailaga FC 2-1, and Downtown FC 2-1 respectively.

Lambert Sarju’s Press FC who drew with Downtown FC 1 -1 in the second match was able to send Nailaga FC packing after a 2-1 victory ruled in their favour.

Mohammed Salmeen was the star for scoring brace of goals while Akininasa Laginivalu scored for Nailaga FC.
