Three newly-ordained priests of the Catholic Church yesterday celebrated their first official mass following their ordination last Saturday.

Father Liqorio Raulutegu, Father Iowane Vodosiro and Father Rogasiano Raikivi were ordained to the Order of the Priest by Archbishop Peter Loy Chong at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva.

They each celebrated their first mass at their respective parishes yesterday in front of their families, friends and members of the Catholic Church.

Celebrating his first mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Lami, Father Raulutegu reminded church members to change their ways to prepare for the Lord’s return according to biblical teachings.

“Let us re-awaken ourselves for the coming of the Kingdom,” Father Raulutegu said.

“We all know that we are all lacking in fullness. We freely satisfy ourselves, we are all in wait of being restored to our everyday life.

“The challenge is on us to change our ways and this reminds us that we cannot accuse Jesus for his delay in his coming to the contrary he is being patient for all of us.”

Meanwhile, Father Rogasiano celebrated his first mass at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Nadera, Nasinu in the presence of Archbishop Peter Loy Chong while Father Iowane celebrated his first mass at the St Joseph’s the Worker Parish in Tamavua.

The priests are expected to leave for their villages in Bua and Cakaudrove this week to celebrate their ordination with their faith families.
