Miss Fiji Nanise Rainima is leaving for Apia, Samoa, today, to compete for the 28th Annual Miss South Pacific Pageant from December 14 to 20.

The 22-year-old lass from Nakelo, Tailevu, will be competing with seven other contestants from the Pacific paradise islands of American Samoa, Cook Islands, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga.

Miss Fiji’s chaperone and former Miss South Pacific Alisi Rabukawaqa Nacewa said they had worked hard over the past few months to prepare Nanise for the pageant in Samoa.

“But a lot of credit goes to her for her commitment and dedication. We are very excited for her and she has great support from family, friends, church and the official team taking her across,” Mrs Rabukawaqa Nacewa said.

“We only hope she does her best; we encourage Fijians to show their support via our online social media pages and to vote for Nanise.”

The pageant was established in 1987 by the Government of Samoa as a regional event to recognise and promote the attributes, intelligence and talents of young Pacific island women.

And Fiji has recorded two title wins with Merewalesi Nailatikau in 2009 and Alisi Rabukawaqa winning the title in 2011.
