It was a dream come true for Unaisi Caginitoba, after visiting the Fiji Sun head office in Walu Bay, Suva yesterday.

Ms Caginotoba who is a student of Khalsa College in Ba was part of the Nadolodolo Village group, from Tavua who were in Suva for a two-day visit.

“I want to be a journalist and visiting the Fiji Sun newsroom has given me a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a journalist,” Unaisi said.

She found it was interesting to know how the newsroom operates and the different work done by the workers.

“I love writing and I want to let people know what is happening around them.”

A schoolteacher at Tavua College, Cabealawa Kotoimakogai, said this was an important trip for the students and the mothers accompanying them.

“What we’ve seen back in the village is a lack of vision when it comes to education,” Mr Kotoimakogai said.

He said most students did not complete their secondary education and the only two jobs that they ended up with were either harvesting sugarcane or fishing.

“We need to change their mentality and we want students to work hard and help them to focus on their studies.”
