Deans Honours Award student Reginald Kumar says we must live a life of purpose.

These were his words after receiving his award at the Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science graduation yesterday.

“If it was not for the Lord, I would not have reached this far and I credit all my success to Him,” Mr Kumar said.

“Your purpose is connected to a contribution. It is not just what teachers teach us, but what we teach others and for you to achieve your purpose, you need to be sincerely committed and strive to make impacts on the people and the society,” he said.

The 23-year-old said his journey as a student for the past six years was not easy.

“If there is one thing that I have learned, it is to never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. I thank my family and also the church for their prayers.”

His mother, Kanta Kumar, said she was a proud mother.

“My son puts God first and the awards he received today show it,” Mrs Kumar said.

“He is the only boy in the family and I am sure his two sisters and everyone are happy today,” she said.
