Suvavou villagers have called on Opposition members of Parliament not to politicise land issues, including questions over Suva land..

They told Dickie Bird yesterday that some SODELPA Opposition members led by their Leader had the opportunity to help them in their plight when they were in power through the SDL government. But they did not.

Now, Dickie Bird says, when they are no longer there they try to address the issue, as if they care.

Costello swings

Fijian musicians seem to be making it big in other Pacific islands countries. We’ve seen that with great artists like the late Sakiusa Bulicokocoko and George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso.

The latest, Dickie Bird says, is Danny Rae Costello from Samba fame who is now based in Samoa. Word from Apia says the Samoans really love his music.

Back in play

A former Fijian resident now retiring in New Zealand is tipped to be the next CEO of a prominent sporting organisation in this country. Dickie Bird said the current CEO has already declared that he would step down by mid next year.

However, Dickie Bird says, if that is the case then the question asked is whether the advertising of the top job, which is yet to be done, is going to be a mere formality.
