Tuvilavila Football Club from Ba has so far enjoyed their experience in the Kriz Signs National Club Championship as it is their first time to participate.

Regardless of their draw in their first game against Gandhi Lionz FC 1-1, the Bakalevu Waqa-coached side will have a lot to take back from the tournament.

“This is our first time to have qualified for NCC and that achievement alone is more than enough for us,” Waqa said.

“Now we are just concentrating on getting the boys to adapt to football on a larger scale than what they are used to playing.

“We are happy where we are now, it is not about winning or losing but making sure these players get the exposure they desperately need.”

Waqa explained the excitement of the players at qualifying for the NCC and what it means to them.

“I am not expecting much from them. They were really excited to be part of this tournament and it gives them a chance to play against other experienced players.”

Meanwhile, Nadi club Gandhi Lionz FC coach Mahendar Raj is happy with how far the boys have come in the tournament.

“Most of them are first timers. They have played in the local league but now they are going up against other teams who are much better which is good because they are getting more experience and it will help me a lot because these young boys have a long way to go,” Raj said.

In early results Namaka Football Club thrashed Press Football Club 5-2 while Civic Football Club drew one all with Koromakawa Football Club.

The semifinals and finals will starti at 10am today at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
