All Freight Logistics Bureta continued to stamp their mark in the Kriz Signs National Club Championship as they held Professional Security Civic right until a penalty shootout before losing 4-1 yesterday.

What happened:

It was an even playing field for both teams as they played a repeat of their local league final. The teams failed the net despite numerous attempts in the first-half.

Civic came back stronger to dominate the second spell with Pita Rabo scoring the first goal.

Civic’s lead pushed Bureta to fight even harder to equalise from a corner kick from Shahil Dave – Bureta, 1-1. The game went into extra time as teams played 10 minutes each side, but still could not break away from the one all draw.

Civic goalkeeper Ulaiasi Tamanisau stopped Civic’s three penalty kicks from Pita Rabo, Kolonio Suvuki and Antonio Tuivuna.

Star turn

Ulaiasi Tamanisau was outstanding in front of the goalmouth showing his prowess in blocking shots at goal.

Big play

Bureta showed determination throughout the game not letting Civic off easily.

Comments

All Freight Logistics Bureta president Sunil Karan, “This is a huge achievement for us coming into the semifinals. This is our first qualifying for the NCC and we managed to make it to the semifinals, so even though we lost to a tough Civic, we still managed to show that we are good enough to compete in such a competition. However, the Pacific Cup took its toll on the boys as it gave us less time to prepare and playing a number of games in the space of two days really contributed to the player’s fatigue.”

Professional Security Civic president Ritesh Pratap, “Bureta put up a good game against us. This is a repeat of our local club final where we won on penalty kicks. We wanted one Suva team to make it into the finals and we did it. This is the first time for us to reach the finals and I am very happy with the boys for their persistence.”
