Ports Terminal Tower Renovation To Boost Staff Morale: Dela

Ports Terminal Limited is soon to complete the renovation of its tower and main operations building in a bid to improve its service delivery and enhance employee capacity.

Chief operations officer, Hasthika Bandara Dela said while the $500,000 investment is a big cost to them, it would boost staff members’ morale.

“This is actually to give our employees a better environment to uplift their morale and this is also a way of increasing the productivity,” Mr Dela said.

“They need to have an environment where you love your work and where you can improve your work. So that’s our intention.”

Not only should managerial staff or executives experience the best facilities there is but it should be felt across the board, he added.

“We don’t compromise on comfort or any other things. The same level of comfort, the same level of environment would be with all the employees.”

The renovation is expected to be completed at month end.

“We started in September but we had a little bit of hiccups because the building was quite old,” he added.

“When we started demolishing and renovating the place, we found that the structure wasn’t helping us.

“So there were a lot of changes and that’s the issue that had to be dragged.”

All in all, Mr Dela said he and his team were impressed by the new look as it would be a game-changer. This is as far as Aitken Spence PLC and Government’s mission on port efficiency was concerned.

The four-storey building boasts a 360-degree glass view of Port of Suva.
