Airports To Pay Out $530,000 In Bonus

Airport Fiji Limited (AFL) staff will each receive five percent of their base salaries as bonus pay before Christmas.

This was announced by AFL board chairman Faiz Khan during the staff’s end- of-the-year Christmas party held at the AFL Aviation Academy in Namaka, Nadi yesterday.

“Four hundred and ninety-nine AFL staff will receive a total of $530,000 in bonus pay on December 23,” Mr Khan said.

“This is two days before Christmas so the timing of this payment is great. We hope everyone has a great Christmas celebration with their families and loved ones.”

He said the company is heading for a year of record profits.

“Two years ago we undertook to restructure our revenue and cost structures. Significant progress has been made, the benefits of which will be realised from the second half of 2015 onwards,” Mr Khan added.

“This is the result of the hard work of the AFL team that is working tirelessly to redefine its boundaries; the results are clearly evident.”

Air traffic controller Makiti Raratabu, 32, who has been part of the AFL family for the last 12 years welcomed the good news.

He said: “It is very good news as it came unexpected ly and because of the project undertaken and I guess all the staff would welcome this.”
