Ali Hospitalised

Former boxer Zulfikar ‘The Jet’ Ali, 35, is recovering at the Suva Private Hospital.

The professional boxer dubbed as the ‘Golden boy; was admitted on December 16.

Nadi hospital sub-divisional medical officer Josaia Tiko confirmed to SUNsports yesterday that he was admitted in Nadi hospital prior to moving to Suva.

“He (Ali) was admitted on Monday and signed out after two days,” said Mr Tiko.

“He had chemical ingestion…but signed out meaning he opted for treatment at other facility which would be able to provide better medical services,” he said.

Reliable sources have confirmed that Police officers had visited Ali’s residence in Nawaka, Nadi.

At this stage, what led his hospitalisation remains a mystery.

Ali’s boxing career started in 1995 and rose to a climax before taking a nose dive when he was imprisoned for his alleged involvement with marijuana.

In 2011 he was suspended for three months by the Boxing Commission of Fiji for allegedly assaulting his father.
