Airport Terminal Project To Complete Stage 1 In April

The first stage of development on the $105 million Nadi International Terminal Modernisation Project is expected to complete by the end of April.

Airports Fiji Limited executive chairman, Faiz Khan yesterday said the delays in this stage were felt by the contractors, New Zealand’s Hawkins Infrastructure and Pacific Building Solutions.

“We’ve had a few bumps because the contractor had certain difficulties in procurement of steel,” Mr Khan said.

However, Mr Khan said he was confident of the time frame and that concessioners and tenant will be given 10 weeks to do fit outs before stage one or the International Departure area on the first floor opens at the end of July.

Airports Fiji move to remodel its terminal facility at its flagship international airport in Nadi was to improve the traveller experiences, optimise commercial revenues, and improve outcomes for all its stakeholders.

The upgrade is a key step in Airport’s Fiji’s journey to becoming the world’s leading small airport and ATM service provider.

It involves a complete refurbishment of the international and domestic terminal facilities along with major extension works.
