Raijeli Mawa,42 was overwhelmed with emotions after winning the Best Women’s Officer Award at the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation’s first awards night last Friday.

She works as a senior women’s interest officer in the ministry.

“I’m really happy to win this award and this has been possible through our team work,” Ms Mawa said.

She said this award would motivate her to improve her service.

“I have been working in the ministry for more than 20 years and it is an honour to work with such wonderful people.”

Minister Rosy Akbar said the occasion marked the commitment and dedication of ministry staff.

“We acknowledge your hard work and sacrifice made throughout the year,” Ms Akbar said.

“We play a big part in poverty alleviation, empowerment of women, children and programme for senior citizens and people with disabilities.”

She challenged ministry workers to be passionate in their work.
