Sydney: Sonny Bill Williams has thrown the challenge out to fight Cronulla and NSW captain Paul Gallen at some stage next year.

Speaking at the launch of the inaugural Footy Show Fight Night to be held at Sydney’s Allphones Arena on January 31, Williams said he was open to the idea of taking on Gallen in the ring.

The All Black and former Sydney Rooster told the Daily Telegraph he has discussed the prospect of a bout with Gallen and is excited about its potential. The fight would generate massive interest and give both men a hefty payday.

“I’d be definitely interested in fighting Gal,” he said.

“He has spoken positively about that fight and hopefully we can do it.

“I know there would be a lot of interest, but there would have to be a lot of things happen first.

“Hopefully on January 31st we can both go out there and have good nights with the gloves and who knows after that.

“I know Paul and he is a true professional.”

Williams said he has learned to become more relaxed following the birth of his first child, a baby girl.

He also hit back at critics after missing the birth while on tour with the All Blacks, plus opened up on his legacy at the Roosters.
