Children of Dilkusha Children’s Home in Nausori beamed with smiles as they were hosted to a Christmas treat by members of the Defence Club in Suva yesterday.

Twenty-eight children from the home were part of the one-day event at the club.

Sidika Hussein, 13, was among the children.

“I’m so happy the this people have the heart to think of us,” she said.

The deaconess accompanying the children, Sitera Ledua, said, “We are grateful to have been thought of by some Good Samaritans during this festive season”.

“The children feel very proud and honoured about the treat today because they are usually confined to Dilkusha Home,” Ms Ledua said.

Club member Edward Roxburg said the club always hosts the children from the home annually.

“Basically every year, a week before Christmas, we invite the Dilkusha Home children to come to the club. Members put in for the day which includes presents, lunches, and giveaways,” Mr Roxburg said.

“We try to lift their hearts and give them a day to smile. It’s quiet fulfilling and overwhelming to see them enjoying before Christmas.”

The children were treated to movies, organised games, face paintings, refreshments and lunch.

The Fiji Police Band provided the entertainment.

The children were hosted in groups to meals at Wishbone, McDonalds, MHCC and other in Suva eateries.
