Brive 19-6 Oyonnax

Former Vodafone Fiji 7s speedster Benito Masilevu continued making waves in the France Top 14 competition helping Brive to a 19-6 win over Oyonnax over the weekend.

Masilevu sped past the defence and delivered a thrilling offload to Alfie Mafi to get Brive on the scoreboard early, two penalties by Gaetan Germain and a drop goal by Nicolas Bezy sealing Brive’s victory.

Bayonne 15-12 Bordeaux-Begles

In other games, centre Gabirieli Lovobalavu nearly cost Bayonne their game against Bordeaux-Begles after he copped a yellow card but teammate Santiago Fernandez quick-witted drop goal in the final minutes sealed a 15-12 victory.

Racing Metro 27-8 La Rochelle

Fijian quartet Sireli Bobo, Levani Botia, Jone Qovu and Kini Murimurivalu were powerless to help La Rochelle beat Paris powerhouse club Racing Metro, Botia copping one of two yellow cards in the first two minutes of the game while Metro went on to record a 27-8 win.

Toulon 30-6 Lyon

Masi Matadigo’s Lyon didn’t fare any better against a power-packed Toulon with Welsh international Leigh Halfpenny and Australian winger Drew Mitchell playing pivotal roles in their side’s 30-6 thrashing.

Clermont 19-10 Castres

Meanwhile, Clermont featuring Napolioni Nalaga and Noa Naikataci managed to defeat former All Blacks Sitiveni Sivivatu’s Castres side 19-10 despite having only 14 men on the field for 40 minutes after Julien Bardy head-butted Yannick Cabarello just before half-time.
