NFA, Police Report Awaited

The National Fire Authority is to confirm what caused the fire at S. Nair Transport Limited last Friday.

The early morning blaze damaged almost 15 of the company’s buses worth $1.2million at Wainibuku, Nasinu.

The NFA and the Fiji Police Force are working together to determine the cause of the fire.

NFA’s chief executive officer John O’Connor said they were working to establish the cause of the fire before giving out any report. He said a report was expected today.

“Our team is currently doing the initial work and once we have something, we will advise,” he said.

Company general manager Ritesh Nair said they were hoping that Police and NFA would be able to determine the cause of the fire soon.

“In the meantime, we have enough buses to cater for the service and it could take six months to get more buses,” Mr Nair said.

He said the buses were insured.
