The Rewa Youth team retained the National Football League Youth title after beating Ba Youth 2-1 at Govind Park in Ba, yesterday.

Setareki Hughes of Rewa Youth did not waste any time during the first-half as he scored the first goal allowing his team to lead 1-0.

Not long Ba Youth Manasa Raikula sneaked a goal in for his team allowing a draw 1-1 with Rewa Youth before half-time.

During the second-half, despite given opportunities, both teams failed to score until Rewa Youth Jamaal Khan secured their win by putting in the final goal for the match.

Rewa Youth coach Nigel Khan said, “We were expecting the win being the defending champions we knew the responsibility we were carrying.

“Anyone knows that competing against any Ba team is not easy but we managed to win and this win is dedicated to the boys for their hardwork,” he said.

Ba Youth coach Shalen Lal said, “I am happy with the boy’s performance even though we had only two days to train our performance today was okay.

“We had some fitness problem during the match which was one of our major weaknesses.

“In the end the best prepared team will always win and I congratulate Rewa on their win,” he said.

Rewa Youth defeated Ba Youth 4-1 at Ratu Cakobau Park last year.
