The Wesley City Mission Church in Suva was filled with the sweet harmonious voices of the young and old singing Christmas carols on Sunday.

The church celebrated its Christmas Cantata late Sunday evening.

Church’s Associate Minister Reverend Viliame Fatiaki said the cantata was an annual event for the church on the Sunday before Christmas.

“The cantata programme is only through music and singing hymns and choruses that relates to the advent season which is Christmas,” Reverend Fatiaki said.

“The church choir is going to lead the service by singing hymns and the message behind it is advent and remembering Jesus coming into the world,” he said.

The programme included the introduction of the Christmas hymns and choruses before it was sung by the church choir.

“The hymns and songs the choir will render will be introduced so it can give the congregation and our friends here the message of the song.

“All in all it’s just a service of singing to glorify the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and remember his coming,” he said.

Reverend Fatiaki said the cantata was the most important part of preparing for Christmas. More than 100 church members and visitors attended.
