Dalo Prices Rise In Festive Season

Fijians are paying as much as $25 for a bundle of dalo this festive season. The hike in price has not discouraged the trade.

And, with Christmas just a day away, the demand for dalo is set to further increase.

This has meant good sales for farmers who are making quite a profit.

Father of three, Koroi Cure of Naitasiri, who sells dalo at the Suva Market, said the high demand for the root crop had led to prices sky rocketing.

“Before, when it was slack time I used to earn $200 per day but now I am so happy that my business is going to earn $500,” Mr Cure said.

In a day he sells more than 20-30 bundles of dalo.

He said that prices of dalo are from $10, 20 and $25 it increased because of the demand for dalo in the festive season.
