Retiree Kamlesh Lakhan says it was an honour to work for the Ministry for Agriculture during the past 33 years.

The ministry honoured nine retirees with a special Christmas service at their headquarters in Raiwaqa, Suva, yesterday.

“We have made a lot of progress in the past year and I’m confident that we can do better through teamwork,” Mr Lakhan said.

He said they had capable staff who could take the ministry to a whole new level.

Line minister Inia Seruiratu said this was an opportune time to come together as a family.

“Everyone is significant in our ministry and I want to thank the staff for the great work that they have done throughout the year,” Mr Seruiratu said.

He said the ministry had done exceptionally well and their future looked promising.

Mr Seruiratu said they had learned from the past performances and this was a good time to reflect on the work they did.

Acting Permanent Secretary Uraia Waibuta said it was the hard work and tireless efforts of the staff that enabled them to provide the best service.

He said it was important for the staff members to continue with their hard work so that they could excel in the future.
