The Animals Fiji Nadi Clinic received $10,000 worth of equipment and monetary funds from an Australian teacher and entrepreneur, Abby Gee, on Monday.

And national carrier Fiji Airways teamed up with Ms Gee of the Australian College of Arts, in launching their ‘Good Karma’ campaign and ‘Legit’ event.

“Generosity is a relative term,” Ms Geed said.

“Animals Fiji is the sole shelter for animals in the entire western and northern divisions.

“It receives no government funding. It’s obvious that we need to roll up our sleeves. They are doing enough on the front lines by tending to these sick injured animals. The rest is on us.”

She said when you see how much Animals Fiji do with so little, it compels you to do more. In an effort to save Animals Fiji; she is thankful for the support received from Fiji Airways.

Fiji Airways flew in 250 kilogrammes of food, medical supplies, animal toys, bedding, cat cages, Fuzz Yard products, AU$3200 (FJ$5163) worth of worming tablets and kitten multilevel cages from Melbourne to Nadi Airport.

“Fortunately Fiji Airways have covered freight, which takes the financial weight off getting these much needed supplies to Nadi ahead of Christmas,” Ms Gee said.

Animals Fiji co-founder/managing Trustee Casey Quimby said, “Acts of generosity are what enable us to continue to exist, do our work, and improve the lives of the animals of Fiji.”

Accompanying the consignment was a monetary donation of AU$5000 (FJ8068) all raised by Ms Gee and the students all alone.
