Sabeto Kids Off To Australia

A group of 27 students from the Sabeto Kidz Club in Nadi left Fiji on Wednesday for a three-week educational tour for Sydney, Australia.

The group boasts 21 primary, six secondary school students and seven parents and guardians.

Tour co-ordinator Jim Saukuru said it was the first time for students of the club to tour Australia.

“This is basically an educational tour so that the students can broaden their minds to achieve their goals,” Mr Saukuru said.

“It will be a new environment for them and a good-eye opener and a good change of mindset.

“We have been planning this for the last two years with fundraisings as we collected almost $50,000 for this trip.

“The major sponsors for the tour are members of the Sabeto community residing in Australia,” he said.

Mr Saukuru said during the three weeks, the group would visit the Taroonga Zoo, Aquarium, and the Opera House.

The group has been invited to stage three concerts – two in Sydney and one in Canberra.

“I challenge the parents and younger children around the country if the Sabeto students can do it, they will can to achieve this as well.

“This is all part of the development of the students,” the Sabeto District School teacher said.
