Another Drug Suspect To Appear In Court Today

Another drug suspect, an Australian citizen, will appear at the Lautoka Magistrates Court this morning.

The suspect is also allegedly linked to the $30 million heroine drug bust which was discovered on Sunday last week.

The discovery was part of joint operation by the Police and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority.

Chief of Investigation and Intelligence, Acting Commissioner of Police (ACP) Henry Brown, said the suspect had been charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs.

“The Australian citizen is in custody for his alleged involvement in the transshipment of the illicit substances,” Mr Brown said.

The small packets of heroin were stuffed inside the tyres of a quad bike and were allegedly addressed to Nadi businessman, Mohammed Shaheed Khan, 40. Khan appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court last week after being charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs as well.
