As the festive season continues, some businesshouses have started selling educational material.

This included Vinod Patel’s Home and Living Labasa branch which has started donating stationery to disadvantaged families in Labasa and to non- government organisations (NGO).

The companies visited Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC) last week Friday.

Branch manager Umesh Prasad said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“We do this every year and today we are giving school bags and other school stationery to FENC Fiji” Mr Prasad said.

He said FENC Fiji had been supporting school children here in the North.

“This is the NGO that we identified this year that has been helping secondary and Primary school students here in Labasa.”

Mr Prasad said the company wanted to donate the school stuff before school starts so that FENC Fiji can distribute school stationery before school starts.

Meanwhile, FENC Fiji Divisional Programme Administrator Northern Maria Kaukimoce said the donation was timely.

“I am so thankful to the staff of Vinod Patel for the donations as I have already identified some disadvantaged students who are in need” Mrs Kaukimoce said.
