Coach Wants Players To Rest

The Fiji women’s football team will resume their preparations for the 2015 Pacific Games on January 12, 2015.

This was confirmed by national coach Charlene Lockington yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports, she confirmed the date had been changed to give players more time to recover.

“We had planned to march into camp right after the Christmas weekend,” Lockington said.

“But we eventually decided to move the date. We wanted to be sure that when they report to camp they will have had proper rest and produce the best possible results. So we wanted to make sure that when the players return they have maximum capability.”

Lockington had previously stated they would also reduce the squad from 30 to 25 players following the end of the January camp.

“Players need to be camp on January 11 before 5pm. Players are urged to show commitment to the country if they want to make the final 20-member squad for the Pacific Games in PNG.

“Players are reminded to limit their Christmas and New Year celebrations in order to keep their fitness level up to standard.”

Jasper Williams High School athletic captain Miriama Naiobasali and Australia’s Vanish Kumar have been named as well.

The bus will depart Ba’s Morris Hedstrom bus shelter at 2pm on Sunday, and will pick-up players from Lautoka’s Churchill Park hard court at 3pm, Nadi’s Prince Charles Park at 4pm, Vilisites’ Restaurant at 5pm and Navua Post Office at 6pm.

Players are reminded to bring in their own eating utensils, plate, bowl, and spoon.
