All Fiji foreign envoy posts will be advertised, says the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

“This is being done the sake of transparency so all posts will be advertised,” Ratu Inoke said.

He said the FijiFirst-led Government headed by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama championed transparency.

“Advertising would also give all qualified Fijians the chance to apply for the posts,” he said.

Ratu Inoke said there would be no new foreign embassies opened in the coming year. However Fiij’s foreign policy of being “friends to all and enemies to none” will be the driving force in expanding Fiji’s diplomatic relations and enhacing its international persona.

He said this year the ministry remained committed to meeting its international obligations.

With the opening of a Permanent Mission to the United States in Geneva and a Consulate General’s Office in Shanghai, Fiji had widened its areas of diplomatic contacts by countries as well as regions to cover the entire globe.

This year alone he said the ministry had established 17 formal diplomatic relations totalling to a 168 out of the 192 countries in the world.
