Flying Fijian winger Waisea Nayacalevu set-up a try and helped Stade Français moved to the top of the Top 14 as they trounced Toulon 30-6 win at Jean Bouin.

A first-half try from Sergio Parisse helped Stade Français into a 16-0 lead before late tries from Jérémy Sinzelle and Zurabi Zhvania earned an unlikely bonus point for the home team.

The Parisians had beaten Toulon at Mayol earlier this season and were the only team unbeaten on home soil at the halfway stage of the campaign.

And they made the perfect start with an early try from Parisse after a scrum against the head. The Italian collected the ball and fed Jules Plisson who took the ball into contact. Parisse arrived in support and picked and went, going clean through, with a borderline clearout from Geoffrey Doumayrou opening up a gap. Plisson converted to make it 7-0.

The game was being played at a frantic pace, with Toulon almost scoring their first try after a break from Bryan Habana, playing out of position at inside centre, but Michael Claasens knocked the ball on after being hammered by two covering defenders.

Toulon had settled into their game though after struggling with the Parisians’ pace early on, and could have got on the scoreboard with a penalty from halfway, but Leigh Halfpenny’s effort was a little short.

From much closer range, Plisson made no mistake to stretch the lead to ten points midway through the first half. He added three more points a couple of minutes later as the home side dominated proceedings.

Stade were in control and things got worse for Toulon when they lost hooker Matias Cortese to a yellow card after 25 minutes. The tackle itself wasn’t that dangerous, but it was the succession of penalties that saw him sin-binned.

A perfectly-judged pass from Plisson put Doumayrou away on the right. He then played the two on one perfectly, straightening before feeding Sinzelle for the try. That ensured there would be no comeback for the defending champions, and there was still time for a third Parisian try through their Georgian prop Zhvania.

It came after a sensational offload out of the back of the hand by Plisson to put Parisse into space. The ball came left to Nayacalevu who found Zhvania inside him for the try.

Plisson converted both tries as Stade completed the bonus-point success and leapfrogged Toulon to move to the summit of the table.
