Sivivatu’s Castres Fight For Survival

Castres picked up a much-needed 27-6 victory as they comfortably saw off Montpellier at Pierre Antoine thanks to two tries from Thomas Combezou. The win was not enough to lift them from the bottom of the Top 14 table.

But it was former All Blacks winger Sitiveni Sivivatu that played a grand game despite the fact Montpellier pressed early and almost scored in the opening minutes after a great break from their own 22, but the Castres defence hold.

Teddy Iribaren gave Montpellier the lead, but after a ball popped out of a scrum, Rory Kockott reacted quickest and got the home side on the attack. The ball was eventually spread to Combezou who went over in the corner. Kockott converted and added three more penalties in the first half to give the home side a 16-6 half-time lead.
