Some opposition types are ready to react and criticise any move made by Government. They pontificate about accountability and transparency.

On the other hand, Dickie Bird says, if one goes through the list of repossessed vehicles or properties by some our financial institutions, they will be in for a shock to see some familiar names there. Not from the Government side.

Aviation field

Word is that one of our universities is now expanding its courses into aviation. Already, they have brought in specialised tutors from Asia to kick-start the Cabin Crew training courses.

These courses, Dickie Bird says, places a lot of emphasis on personal grooming as well. For the future, plans are in the pipeline for the start of private and commercial pilot courses as well.

Quarry bid

A Chinese company’s bid to buy a quarry business in Wainibuka came in late. Now they are offering big money to buy it off. However, Dickie Bird said the only obstacle is that the business is now owned by a local investment firm.

Police rivalry

What’s the latest about the Police pay saga? Suddenly everything has gone quiet! Dickie Bird was told that the strong rivalry among Police departments resulted in the dispute.

Since the issue was raised by a retired officer from a highly-trained Intelligence unit, it did go down well with some senior officers from other areas.
