A Year 13 student of Jai Narayan College is elated after learning he scored the overall highest in the 2014 Fiji Seventh Form Examination.

Out of 7246 students who sat for exam Nischal Raj Singh got 379 out of 400.

He scored 100 in Mathematics, 88 in English, 94 in Accounting, 97 in Economics and 92 in Computer.

“Scoring 379 is not a new thing to me because I have scored 380 out 400 in Fiji School Leaving Certificate but I’m really happy and excited to score that much mark in my final examinations,” the 18- year old .

“I’m still glad to score 379 in my final examination because I worked really hard for it and I have given full devotion to my studies,” he said.

He plans to do a commerce degree at the University of the South Pacific.

Nischal thanked God, his parents and teachers for his great achievement.

His proud parents described him as a dedicated child and well mannered lad with great moral values.

Nischal’s father, Naveen Singh, the owner of a rubber stamp company, said: “My son is a blessing in the family since he is the only child.”

Sharmila Singh, the 39- year old mother of Nischal Singh said: “I am so happy for his achievement and his hard work.”

Nischal’s message to all students who will be sitting for their major exams next year is – “Always focus on your studies. Set a goal and work towards it to achieve it then you can see yourself in flying colours,” he said.
