It was a double celebration for the Vuo Rugby Club as they received their new set of uniforms yesterday.

The uniforms consisted of jerseys, shorts and socks with a total value of $2000.

Coach Isireli Rainibogi said the new uniforms would definitely boost the morale of their players.

“Most of these boys are unemployed so this is like a dream come true for them and it is also an unforgettable New Year’s gift,” he said.

The gift was made by Reverend Apenisa Rabai, a missionary serving in Australia.

“I encourage young people to look beyond expectations and utilise their sports talents and skills,” Rev Rabai said. “I took a challenge to expose these young people through boosting their morale and uplifting their self esteem, breaking the cycle of the usual gathering around the grog bowl and help them look forward to a better, active and healthy future.”

Rev Rabai confirmed that the contribution of uniforms is only the beginning of a more exciting future ahead, as he intends to help more youths.
