Street Parties For New Year

It was a memorable night for people as they counted down the hours for the New Year in Suva last night.

It was a night of hype at the Holiday Inn as legendary jazz guitarist Tomasi Mawi burned the stage with his performance.

Velelo Kwepile and his wife, Brenda, from South Africa were part of the party.

They said spending New Year’s celebration in Fiji was very memorable.

“This is our first time and first year to be in Fiji and we love everything about it,”Mr Kwepile said.

“The people are very friendly, and the environment is clean and we love it here,”he said.

Mr Kwepile will be working in Fiji for the next four years at the South African High Commission.

Meanwhile, hundreds of families and friends gathered at Mai Suva Picnic Park for the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Annual Fiji Street Party. The other street part was at Albert Park by Communications Fiji Limited.
