Asmoun Bi of Vitadra, Bulileka, was the happiest woman at Labasa Hospital yesterday after she gave birth to a healthy baby boy on New Year’s Day.

The mother of four and the only one, who gave birth on New Year’s Day, said she did not expect to give birth on New Year’s Day.

“I was not expecting to give birth on the New Year, but I am happy that I have been blessed with a baby boy this day,” Mrs Bi said.

“Babies are gifts from God and we should always appreciate them, no matter what time they are born” she said.

Mrs Bi, who could not get her eyes off her 3.5 kilogramme baby boy, said she was impressed with the way the delivery nurses helped her.

“The delivery nurses are very kind and I thank them for their superb work.”

She said members of her family were very happy to welcome their fifth baby and the family could not wait for the day they will be discharged.

Mrs Bi gave birth to the healthy baby boy at 7:38 yesterday morning.
