A large crowd including family groups gathered at Mai Suva Picnic Park on New Year’s Eve to be part of the FBC Street Party.

Families and groups set up house tents around the park while children enjoyed the swings and even the small swimming pool provided.

Fifty-one-year-old Bhan Singh said she wanted to experience the hype of the New Year’s party in town.

“This is my first time here and I love the atmosphere,” Mrs Singh said.

“I think this is one of the best ways to spend the last day of the year and that is with our family in a new and fresh environment,” she said.

Vaseva Mau, who also shared the same sentiments said: “This is our first time here and this afternoon my kids were all ready by 4pm to come and be part of the street party,” Mrs Mau said.

“I believe everyone plays a vital role in the betterment of their family and also our nation as a whole.”
