97.6 %: Labasa College joy

Labasa College aims to continue producing excellent examinations results following the release of the Fiji Seventh Form Examination results this week.

The school recorded a 97.6 per cent pass rate in the examination and second to Lekutu Secondary School of Bua Province which scored a 100 per cent pass rate.

Completing the top three for the North is Labasa Sangam (SKM) College which had 91 per cent.

Labasa College principal Vinod Naicker said Lekutu Secondary had nine Year 13 students.

“We had 127 Year 13 students who sat for FSF6E so it’s an achievement for the school compared to the previous 97.5 per cent pass rate for year 2013,” Mr Naicker said.

“We’re also pleased to release more than 20 per cent of Year 13 students who scored marks above 300 out of 400 as they qualify for the National Toppers Scheme (NTS).

“With Government’s help, the school plans to improve its infrastructure and facilities, prioritising on educational resources and their library.

“Government has granted $365,000 to the school which mainly went to the renovation to the Labasa College’s Vakatale Girls Hostel.”

Mr Naicker said developments and improved to the school would help education standard.
