A Fijian contingent of scouts from Lautoka intends to learn as much as possible while attending an international event in Adelaide, Australia.

The Fiji Scouts contingent left on Thursday to be part of the Australian Venture 2015.

The event is at the Woodhouse Activity Centre, Adelaide, South Australia from two weeks.

Team leader and Lautoka assistant district commissioner for Rovers and Ventures, Ritesh Prasad said it was the first time for the Lautoka contingent to represent Fiji.

“This is an international event with Papua New Guinea, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Netherlands and host Australia contingents,” Prasad said.

“The objective for us is to go as ambassadors of scouting in Fiji to bring back some scouting knowledge,” he said.

He hopes to inspire other promising scouts in Fiji.

The Fiji contingent comprises of Paula Lagaia, Eron Lal, Mineet Ashish Jattan and their patrol leader Mohammed Zubaid Jameel who are students of Natabua High School and Central College Lautoka.

“The criteria for selection was based on their performance in the Lautoka scouts in the last three years.

“Lautoka is the only scouts council to host the rally in the past three years as well in Fiji,” he said.

The contingent returns on January 16.
