New nurses joining the workforce from this year need to obtain a practicing licence, says Fiji Nursing Association general secretary, Salanieta Matiavi.

“Registration is only done once and that is if you are joining the nursing workforce for the first time. This means that nurses who will be joining this year will first need to register,”Mrs Matiavi said.

Mrs Matiavi said nurses still had time to register.

“Nurses will need to meet their 20 continuous professional development credit points and 10 if you have retired.

“Registration is only done once, whereas obtaining a licence to practise is done annually and nurses who will fail to register will not be practise as this is a requirement,”she said.
