Rebranded, Refurbished Yatule Reopening At Natadola Beach, Leads To About 70 Jobs

A resort at one of the country’s finest beaches is reopening in two weeks, refurbished and under new management.

The former Yatule Beach Resort is rebranded as Yatule Resort and Spa @ Natadola Beach. It will officially open for business on January 17.

This time it will be operated by Tour Managers Fiji. This is a specialist destination management company based in Nadi and under the leadership of tourism industry veteran, managing director Damend Gounder.

The company says the resort has undergone an extensive makeover and rebranding, introduced a modern level of comfort, style and service to one of Fiji’s finest beaches.

Tour Managers business development manager Ioane Naivalurua confirmed by email: “Yatule Resort and Spa @ Natadola Beach will be opened on 17 Jan 2015 providing employment for close to 70 people locally.”

Mr Naivalurua said further details will be given as arrangements are finalised.

In 2013, the National Provident Fund-owned property – under FNPF Investment Limited – had closed for renovations. These were originally due to be completed last October.

What is now the resort was originally built in 2005. It was designed to serve as accommodation for consultants and contractors involved in building the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, next door on Natadola Beach.
Completion

Upon completion of the InterContinental resort the construction property was then converted to bungalow accommodation and opened as a beachfront resort.

However, it had been operating at a loss. The facilities were in urgent need of upgrading. Hence the
closure and upgrade.

Questions regarding the operational management were sent to FNPF chief executive Aisake Taito and he assured: “Other details will be released at hotel opening in January.”

Meanwhile, Mr Taito added: “The resort is situated on a prime
location for potential development in the future to complement the InterContinental Resort and residential development.

“The current upgrade is a mid-term measure to improve the returns on the property with a long term view for potential future
development.”
