Being a sustainable and responsible company is not just a one-off thing. It’s what a company chooses to do when even no one’s looking.

And when it comes to corporate social responsibility, Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa knows what it means to stay on top of this game.

The award-winning resort on Yanuca Island is just across from Cuvu on the Queens Road is once again a finalist in the Sustainability category in the 2014 AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

The resort had won in this category in 2013 and this time round is another milestone.

Resort general manager, Craig Powell, said: “As all other nominees we are very proud to be nominated along with the best of our industry colleagues and this in itself is recognition of what we strive to do here at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa.

“It has given us greater motivation to do more in the area of CSR and sustainability

“We are proud to stand side by side by our peers in being recognized for the work we do and regardless of the outcome being nominated is an achievement in itself.”

Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort and Spa believes that the Fiji tourism industry is resilient and dynamic.

“And the destination can only grow from strength to strength with the partnerships that Fiji has with the national carrier and industry partners in the source markets as well as emerging markets.

“Therefore, investments into the company and further developing the properties operated by the Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort and Spa are vital and the resort will be looking at doing so.

The Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort and Spa believes they are more than just a Resort and has noted that it Critical to always give back to the communities.

“We believe giving back to our communities is very critical, also we hope that we will remain competitive and continue to achieve the targets we have set keeping in mind competing destinations.”
